June 2014

The above pic was done by my Friend Bonnie Bell

Sunday 01- another hot day with a stiff wind in the evening.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk.
I corresponded with my friend Bonnie to begin the process of her creating a cover for my new book “Under another Star” the 4th and last book in the series “Rainbow at the End of Tomorrow”.

Monday 02- around the 100 mark but a nice breeze in the evening like yesterday.
I did my stretches. Because I was going to town and leaving Cassie over at Sherry’s house I didn’t take her for a walk. She will get enough exercise playing with Barney over there.
I went to my bank to get a Medallion Signature for the trust funds, but they told me after an hours wait that I needed to make an appointment. I explained to this bank person what I wanted and he said that I needed a legal document from the trust fund itself... another day wasted :(
I went to WalMart and did a bunch of shopping and bought some new socks and shorts to wear. I got back at Sherry’s around 4pm and we then went to Carl’s Jr for dinner, stopped off at Staters to get some things I forgot, then back to Sherry’s to collect Cassie and go on home.
I bought a new harness for her because the old one she had outgrown and was a tight fit. I took her for a walk and the new harness works great.
I got a call from Tom Merritt to go outside and watch the International Space Station fly overhead. I was looking towards the southwest when it appeared four minutes after his call. It reminded me of a dark October night way back in 1957 when I was 6 years old. My Mother took me outside to the backyard as the Russian spacecraft Sputnik flew overhead. She held me in her arms and raised me high in the air as if to give me a closer look at the craft and said to me, “Remember this moment. This is history being made.” Well I still remember that special moment.

Cassie playing in her new pool that Sherry brought over!

Tuesday 03- got to around 100 again.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, took Cassie for a walk, and core trainer.
I called one of the stock funds for information on how to transfer it into my name so I can then disperse it among my siblings.
I did some editing on book number four.

Cassie caked with mud... She dug a hole near a tree I was watering.

Wednesday 04- weather same as yesterday.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for two minutes. The scrapes on my knees have healed nicely from when the new swamp cooler feel on me and I’m able to do yoga again.
I worked on editing my book.

Thursday 05- getting hotter.
I did my stretches.
Cassie and me went to visit Barney the dog and Sherry in Yucca Valley. The gas didn’t work when she went to make us grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. She called the gas company and they came out in about 45min. It was her whole gas unit and regulator that had to be replaced but at no cost to her.

Friday 06- around 107 degrees here at my house.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for two minutes.
I updated the Copper Mountain Mesa Website and sent out the Newsletter.
We went for an evening walk around sunset when it was much cooler.

Saturday 07- again it was very hot; I love my new swamp cooler, keeps it around 79 degrees inside.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk before the ground got too hot.
Cassie ate through her harness I had just bought her and she’ll have to wait to go for a walk until I find the old harness she grew out of.
It was too dang hot so we stayed mostly in the house until sunset when I rode the scooter to both mailboxes; an 18 mile round trip. When I got back me and Cassie played fetch in the yard.

***** Stuff I Wrote this Week******

An empty house full of memories...

Don't feel guilty my precious one, you are free to roam the realms, to be swept away on daisy paddles upon the breeze you'll fly. Never knowing a gloomy day, may your light shine brightly in the sky.

We think we're strong until something like losing a loved one comes knocking at our door; BANG BANG BANG! And wakes us up from our slumber of everyday lives and drags us into a realm of deep grieving and pain.

We must rise up and speak our minds to break through the silence of being ordinary and push the boundaries of our very existence to make any kind of difference in the world today.
~RD

We used to be young and dance barefoot upon lush green fields of grass chasing bubbles in the air...

Interpretation of the world around depends on the observer and their ability to sort through the bullshit of others.  ;)

I’ve been a bit overwhelmed lately with several personal events that have unfolded during the past two months or so and I think I’m beginning to can see the light burning at the end of the tunnel; just hope it ain’t Hell!
I have left out a lot of from this journal especially Cassie and me been spending a lot of time outside mostly during sunset going for walks, playing fetch and watering the plants. Cassie has finally learned that for me to throw the ball again she needs to bring the ball back to me instead of running around with it in her mouth.
I finished editing book number four “Under Another Star” late Saturday night and will now have to reread it through one more time. 06/22/2014

I left Cassie in the kennel with a fan turned up high and lots of water while I went to town. I hit the gas station first spending over $100 filling up the car and every gas container I have. I then drove to WalMart to get a couple of birthday cards and other stuff. I saw a bunch of 14’x42” pools like the one I ordered last Sunday that won’t be delivered till June 20th. It ain’t no big deal cause I need the time to clear a place for in the yard anyways.
I stopped at the post office and mailed out Southwest Gas stock transfer and the birthday cards.
Me and Cassie ate a whole roasted chicken I picked up at WalMart for lunch and dinner.
I took Cassie for a walk around sunset and then spent an hour outside watering all my poor plants.
I watched season 3 episode 1 of “Sherlock” again.

I worked all day and into the night editing on the book.

I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a short walk (her back leg seems to be fine), core trainer, and punched the heavybag for two minutes.

I helped Linda over the phone secure her wireless router.
I worked the rest of the day/night editing the book and finished it. Now I have to read through it one last time.

***** Stuff I Wrote this Week******

Aren't you you in the first place and not someone else who isn't you and maybe they themselves are somebody else and that somebody else is the real you?

Books come in many forms some in paper some digital; the main thing is to read and discover in whichever form you find them.

When transients weasel into your life considering your benevolence as being naive and weak, advantage they take of your generosity, new friends it's time to seek. Sad you may be to let them go, false hopes they spread we fear, but let them go we shall and say goodbye to find our happiness and cheer elsewhere.

I got back at Sherry’s and we had hamburgers with coleslaw and potato salad.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells, core trainer and went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and went for a night walk with Cassie.

Cassie want's to play ball!
This is where I am putting the new pool that is still in the trunk of my car; 161 pounds of it, took me and three WalMart workers to get it in there. Not too sure how I am going to get it out...

Lucky for me it was all in different boxes.

I made my casserole surprise for potluck early because I’m picking up a friend who's in the hospital tomorrow and won’t have time to make it.

Saturday 28- 104.3 degrees.
I got an early call around 7:30am to pick up my friend and take him home. It took the hospital another hour to release him. I got him to his home and his soon to be wife cooked us breakfast. I arrived back home around 11:30am and tried to go back to sleep after I took Cassie for a walk.
I got to potluck around 3:30pm. There were around twenty hungry folks showing up. I forgotten my camera for the first time in the 16 years we’ve been having it.
I worked correcting the printout of my book.
I took Cassie for a long nights walk around 10:30pm when it was nice and cool and the wind was just right to cool us off from the heat of the day.

I took Cassie for and evening and a night walk.

Monday 30- 111 degrees.
I did my stretches.
I did as much as I could today on the area I am cleaning out for the pool. If I got too dang hot I’d go back in the house to cool off. One time I was cleaning the battery cables and had to turn off all the electronics and swamp cooler. When I had the cables all cleaned up and connected I turned everything back on. What I didn’t realize until later that I turned the controls to the swamp cooler to fan setting and not the cool one; it got to over a hundred and five inside until I noticed and it was the dang dog who alerted me... good Cassie.
I went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I spent most of the evening playing with my Nook Simple Touch ebook reader trying to root it to Android. After bricking the darn thing twice and doing searches to find the correct code to run to set it back to factory specs and then finally trying a different OS and got her to dual boot both Nook and Android; lots of trial and error (this is how we learn). The problem was that the first OS wouldn’t work on Nook 1.1 which mine was and the second OS was for 1.2 and beyond and it worked.
I went for a night walk with Cassie. Lots of stars out tonight and the Milky Way  really stood out among them.

Goodbye to June!
