May 2016

Saturday 07- I just got back from a month's stay in Torrance... I had to take care of my Dad and Stepmother who are 93 and 92. I finally convinced them to sell their house and go into a rest home (a lot more to the story)... So they're in a very nice rest home being taken care of and the house should sell for a nice price so they won't need to worry about the future.

Sunday 08- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.

Monday 09- I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk.
I worked in the yard getting most of the large pieces of wood from my old roof of some 20 years ago into the dumpster for them to pick up tomorrow; fill the whole dang dumpster to the top.

Tuesday 10- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I drew something: my home.
My HP laptop froze on startup after doing a Microsoft Security Update. I tried several different ways to get it going, but none worked. Thankfully I am good at keeping things backed up and decided to do a clean install and wipe the whole drive. Took awhile to complete, but now I can give it away to my Dad.

Wednesday 11- I did my stretches, too hot to go for a jog with Cassie.
Went to sherry’s house and we did our shopping whiles the dogs chased each other in the backyard.

Thursday 12- I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk.
I worked in the yard and around the house fixing this and that.
I was going to edit a chapter of “Desolation” but found out MS Office for my Mac had expired... I decided not to mess around with anything else and bought a year’s subscription to MS Office 365. I had to reinstall the whole program over again, but this version is a bit better than my old 365 I had on my Macbook Air.

Friday 13- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.

Saturday 14- I did my stretches but it was too hot for me and Cassie to go for a jog.
Got to work clearing up the remains of the old roof out back... still a bit more to do.
I edited Chapter 11 of “Desolation” and posted it to FaceBook for my friends to read.
Took Cassie for an evening jog when it wasn’t so hot.

Sunday 15- I did my stretches and took Cassie for a mile jog.
Cassie and me went for an evening jog.

Monday 16- I did my stretches and took cassie for a walk.
I continued to cleanup the yard raking up all the little pieces of splintered roofing wood and nails putting them in the dumpster that is quickly running out of room.
I took Cassie for an evening walk.

Tuesday 17-  I did my stretches and took Cassie for a short walk.
I went to WalMart... got a haircut there and did some shopping.
Worked some on the edit of chapter 12 of “Desolation”.
I thought it over and decided to take the Emergency Medical Responder class at the college on June 13th. It’ll start at 9am and go until 11:45am 4 days a week for a month. I just felt I needed this class.

Wednesday 18- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I drew something: a strange looking face.
I practiced my guitar for a short spell.
Edited chapter 12 of “Desolation” and posted it to FaceBook.
I finished reading chapter 10 on volcanism and extrusive rocks.
I started reading April’s chapter in “365 Starry Nights” and have a ways to go to get caught up.

Thursday 19- very windy!
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and went for a mile jog with Cassie.
I drew something: a park ranger, well it looked like a park ranger when I got done.
I spent most of the day trying to register for an Emergency Medical Responder Course at Copper Mountain College. I made up my mind to just go for it and attend the class late last night. It’ll be for only a month; June 13 to July 13, 4 days a week Mon-Thurs from 9am to 11:50am. I'll have to radically change my sleeping habits for this class... can't be 10 o'clock Bob anymore for a spell. I went through the online enrollment and had to print out a worksheet I had to fill out, take a picture of and then email it back to admissions. I called admissions and they got the pics of the worksheet, but now I need to send them a copy of my AA degree to satisfy the reading 51 requirement, so I sent her a picture of my AA. She said she will email a form so I can take this “one class only” without having to go thru anymore requirements. So I had to print that out too and sign it and take a picture and send it back to them. That’s how we do online registration now a days. I bought the textbook on Amazon; set me back $120 some dollars. I still need to purchase a manual blood pressure cuff, stethoscope, and a pen light. Now the funny thing is that I now have an educational email address and the college uses Outlook 365, so when I went to check if there was any email a notification popped up saying since I was a student I could get MS Office 365 for free; I wish I knew that a few days ago when I paid $69 for Office 365!

Friday 20- I started changing my sleeping habits by waking up at 7:30am and will continue doing this until I finish the class on July 13th.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I drew something: a profile of a man’s head.
I was supposed to have my textbook for the EMR class delivered today, but it never came. I paid extra for the one-day delivery and called Amazon and got a refund for that.
I edited and posted chapter 13 of “Desolation” on FaceBook.

Saturday 21- I did my stretches, lifted the 20lbs dumbbells and took Cassie for a mile jog.
Movie night!!!
Cassie and me will be there again to see all our friends and eat popcorn, hot dogs wrapped in bacon in a bun covered in that hot mayonnaise they have there, let's not forget those tit cookies, and stand around yammer on and on and laugh about how bad the film was (the last movie "Mesa of the Lost Women" was bad, very bad... only 1 star out of 999 votes on IMDB, but it was well worth braving the cold winds that night to be with the desert folks under the starry night skies that I love. Unfortunately it was a full Moon that night, but fortunately the Moon, Mars and Saturn danced together making a nice little triangle for us all to gaze upon and wonder what it's all about... the movie I'm talking about, not life.

Sunday 22- I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk... my day off.
I edited and posted chapter 14 of “Desolation” on FaceBook.

Monday 23- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I edited and posted chapters 15 and 16 of “Desolation” on FaceBook for my Friends to read. This is the first edit of the book and I expect there’ll be a lot of errors to correct.

Tuesday 24- I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and a mile jog with Cassie.
Finally everything came together; my book for the class and the pump up blood pressure thingy and stethoscope came from Amazon after many delays. Then I made two calls to the college and they said the messup was on their side and I was able to enroll in my EMR class.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening one mile jog with Cassie.
I started reading the EMR textbook and will continue to read it until I am done and before the class begins on June 13th.

Wednesday 25- windy with rain!
I did my exercises.
Went shopping with Sherry while Cassie played with her friends Willey, Barney and Abby.

Thursday 26- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
UPS deliver my kit for the EMR class.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening one mile jog with Cassie.

Friday 27- I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells and went for one mile jog with Cassie.

Saturday 28- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.

Sunday 29- I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening one mile jog with Cassie.

Monday 30- I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and went for a mile jog with Cassie.
My current Amazon Prime account is due to expire on June 06, but I found out that I can get a student Amazon Prime account for 6 months for free and then continue for half price. So I sent them my college student email address and all is well.
I went for a evening mile jog with Cassie.

Tuesday 31- I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.

***** Stuff I Wrote this Month******

Two versions of the same poem below... one was too long and one that just didn’t say enough...
Long:
On the deck of subtle sorrows, be cast upon the seas of darkness, to sail blindly before the winds of treachery... stormy weather has prevailed.
Though strength is now our greatest weakness, to plow corporate fields for paltry rewards. They subjugate our populace for their corporate pleasures, and drag us under to dance as puppets, to that same old tune as was played before.
They squash and plunder all creativity and imagination, until their coffers are filled high with greed and hatred, until the planet’s resources are all dried up, and our free will that once was, is no more.
So please spare thy simple requests of absolution, spare us all your idiosyncrasies and delusions, that floats along with the rising tide, but share with us your reflections of independence, share with us your pride and sanity, wipe that sweaty corporate grime off your brow, or ye shall be doomed to a voyage under tyranny.
I claim to have no quick solutions, but to spit in the face of freedom’s aggressors, and ask ourselves are we to blame.

I stopped watching the Network News a long time ago. I don't want to be fed, I want to absorb the news from different sources, but it's all the same, it never changes, 10, 20 years, 40 years... it's all the same BS: wars, murder, rape, lost dogs... it never changes... you can still see the graffiti written on the walls of buildings and passageways in Pompeii; a city that was blasted off the face of the Earth almost two thousand years ago..

If there are any intelligent minded elected officials with a bit of common sense left in our Congress, they must have been squashed by the rhetoric of radical zealots, out spent by the greed of the money grabbers, or just bored to tears by the stupidity and ignorance of everyone else surrounding them.

***** Stuff I Wrote this Month******

I am trying to do what I have to do, I already did what I wanted to do, so now when I get to doing what I was supposed to be doing in the first place I'll get to what I needed to do when I'm done doing that.
~RD

This poem I almost didn't share.
I feel I should/must maintain some sort of balance between good and evil, love and hate, greed and charity, life and death or become dull in my writings... good doesn't always prevail over evil. If I wrote about unicorns and fairy-dust all the time, I and everyone else would become bored:
Dreadful sobs of tormented sorrow pulse heavily from painful chest within, deepest are my rage of delusions stemming from Original Sin, that foul and noxious putrid odor that darkens what moral soul I have, sordid spittle from temple’s pulpit hides reality from those who seek, so blind are the lost and faithful who follow set path like timid sheep, those who came forward, honest and weak, those who had faith in what they believe, that the skies shall just open up as if to suck up their sins, I will cry for the passing of all my dear friends...  never to see them... never ever again.
~RD

Hoof Prints in the sky
What happened to the unicorns prancing merrily in the heath, they been gone from the paddock, missing from the moor, are they hiding in the hinterlands because they come to us no more. Pixie rings and fairy dust, magic wands we use  to track, but they have taken to the skies and they are never coming back. With careful eye to see their path, a great labor we shall undertake, to look beyond the mountains, above the fairy dale, and if we are very lucky, and fate is on our side, shall ye see upon a cloudy day their hoof prints in the sky.
