July 2017

July 2017
Saturday 01- 106 to 75
I did my stretches and went for a one mile jog by myself again.

Sunday 02- 108 to 79
I did my stretches, core trainer, exercised with on the weight bench, punched the heavybag for a spell, and went for a one mile jog by myself.

Monday 03- 106 to 70
I did my stretches, yoga, and went for a good mile jog by myself.
I had a long distance reiki treatment done by my niece Laura; I feel rested.

Tuesday 04- 109 to 81
I did my stretches, exercised with the 20lb dumbbells, and jogged a good mile.

Wednesday 05- 106 to 84
I did my stretches and jogged a good mile.
UPS came and delivered my new Yamaha FG800. I unpacked it and played on it for the first time. It has a much brighter sound coming from it than my Martin that has a deeper mellow sound coming out of the sound hole. I prefer the sound of the Martin, but the seems to have warped neck a bit and I cannot play and bottom frets because of the rattling. We’ll see if I get used to the FG800 Dreadnought’s brightness.

Thursday 06- 111 to 85
I did my stretches, core trainer, exercised with on the weight bench, punched the heavybag for a spell, and jogged a good mile jog by myself.

Friday 07- 115 to 86 (record)
I am going to go to sleep. I had to go to Palm Springs to have blood taken. It was over 122 degrees and my truck AC wasn't working :'(
I feel like fried bacon... the humidity was horrible down there. I got out of the Doctor’s office and walked to my truck and it felt like I was blasted by a flamethrower!  I could hardly drive home; Thank goodness for power steering, I had to use my fingers to drive because the steering wheel too hot to the touch... I am just glad to be home and in bed :)

Saturday 08- 111 to 84 (record)
I did my stretches and jogged a good mile jog by myself.
My kitchen was invaded by these really teeny tiny itsy bitsy ants. I was going to eat some yogurt and I picked up a spoon lying on the counter, but before I went to scoop the yogurt I noticed about a hundred of them inside the spoon. They were crawling around everywhere! I got the bug killin spray out and blasted them away! Yuck, I could have been eating ant flavored yogurt :(

Sunday 09- 109 to 82
I did my stretches.
I got the dogs settled down in the bedroom with the swamp cooler going, and then left to do a poetic reading at Space Cowboy Books in Joshua Tree. When I took the stage to read one of my poems I decided to first take a picture of the audience... What a wonderful group of awesome poets and folks who love listening to poets making me feel comfortable on stage when I read.
After some discussion about scifi, I asked Jean-Paul to come up with a name for a story. Before I left he haded me his business card with a title on it “Proliferation of Economic Dust” When I got how I wrote a thousand word story for it and sent it to him.
My truck was under half full, so filled up the truck with gas in Joshua Tree.

Monday 10- 106 to 81 degrees.
I did my stretches. I kinda felt burned out from the heat of Friday’s trip to Palm Springs and yesterday's poetry reading. So, I spent the day inside with the lazy dogs.
Bonnie Bell finished the cover for my new book “Upon Ashen Roads” and she did a magnificent job on it!

Tuesday 11- 106 to 81
I did my stretches, core trainer, exercised with on the weight bench, punched the heavybag for a spell, and jogged a good mile jog by myself.
My niece Laura edited a copy of my new book and sent it back to me. I still need to go over it now.
Finally, it was cool enough just before sunset to take the dogs for a mile jog; they were mighty excited about that :)

Wednesday 12- 105 to 82...
I did my stretches, yoga, punched the heavybag, and went for a good mile jog while the doggies went inside and lounged in the coolness of the swamp cooler.
I did some editing of my book.
I took the dogs for a mile jog at sunset when it was way cooler. I exercised with the 20lb dumbbells.
Jean-Paul emailed me to say he liked what I had written, but not enough character in the story. What started out as a short story actually turned into an outline for a book, and the way I write I start with the framework and then add to it later. He also said it needs an ending if it's going to go in the magazine, but I am one of those writers who likes cliffhangers... and I wasn’t aware it might have been going into a his Sci fi magazine... oh well.

Thursday 13- 110 to 83...
I did my stretches, core trainer, exercised with on the weight bench, punched the heavybag for a spell, and jogged a good mile jog by myself.
I needed a break from editing my book, so I worked on some of my computers today.
I transferred my domain BogusFactor.com from GoDaddy to DotEasy. The process wasn’t as easy because GoDaddy really wants to keep their customers, but in the end the folks at DotEasy helped me out.

Friday 14- 108 to 83 with smoke...
I did my stretches; my body needed the rest.
I played with my computers and got an old one working and tossed out one that was kaput.
Lots of smoke outside caused by the Bridge Fire in East Highland, so I didn’t take the dogs for a walk tonight.
I am writing a story for my friend Ami-Vin’s Birthday, a little sci fi story.

Saturday 15- 116 to 84
I did my stretches and jogged a mile. I can’t lift any weights because I slammed my finger in the door when I went out late last night to give the dogs a treat. It was hot and muggy, smoke in the air filled my lungs and eyes from the Bridge Fire, and even though I had taken a shower I felt sweaty, sticky, and down beaten.
I finished writing a short story Ami-Ven and will send it in a few days on her birthday.
I took the dogs for an evening mile jog just before the sun set.

Sunday 16- 108 to 82
I did my stretches.
I worked on my books; editing, writing short stories, adding poems to “Azure Sea of Dreams”.

Monday 17- 105 to 80
I did my stretches.
I went to Star Pharmacy to pick up some meds and then went to WalMart to see if they had powdered soy milk; they didn’t. I am thinking I might be getting lactose intolerant because I kinda been feeling bloated for a long spell. I tried quitting wheat to see if that was the cause, but it weren’t. So milk is the next suspect!
I shared a whole chicken with the doggies when I got home. I took them for an evening walk. It sure is nice when the sun goes down and cooler winds prevail.

Tuesday 18- 103 to 81
I did my stretches, exercised with the 20lb dumbbells, and ran a good mile.
About 3:30pm it's raining hard, at first a cloudburst with lightning and thunder oh my! Then it settled down to just rain, lightning and thunder.
Cassie went outside with me to cover some stuff up, but Barney heard the thunder, cowered and ran for cover of his bed in my bedroom... :D
I have disconnected my inverter to protect it from a close hit and now running on backup electric and mobile WIFI.

Wednesday 19- 99 to 82
I did my stretches.
I went on poop patrol scooping up the little nasties.
I drove to Twentynine Palms to get my package at the post office and then stopped at Stater Bros to get a few items.
I came home to find Barney was standing outside the front gate wagging his tail. He had dug a large hole under the gate and had crawled through. I let him inside, patted him on the back and said good boy; nothing else to be done about it except filling in the hole with cement or a big boulder.
Worked on editing my book.

Thursday 20- 105 to 79
I did my stretches, core trainer, jogged a mile, worked out on the weight bench, and punched at the heavybag for a spell.
I worked editing my books.

Friday 21- 104 to 81
I did my stretches and jogged a good mile.
I worked on the garage roof that was damaged by our last storm. I also leveled out both the camper and trailer that was cause by the flood eroding away at block holding them up. I must've banged my head on the camper overhang around 4 or more times.
Took the doggies for an evening mile jog.

Saturday 22- 106 to 85
I did my stretches and yoga.
I went back to work on the garage roof. I may replace the whole aluminum section with plywood later on when the weather dies down.

Sunday 23- 109 to 86
I did my stretches.
I did a few more repairs to the roof and then came inside to clean up and get things in order. I tossed out a whole lot of magazines and a few water damaged books I’ll never use and not worth the effort of giving away.

Monday 24- 98 to 80 a bit of rain
I did my stretches.
Move dead batteries to truck... remove spark plugs from both generators, and load up propane tanks into the truck for my trip to town tomorrow.
I worked in the house.

Tuesday 25- 99 to 75 clouds
I did my stretches.
I let the dogs stay in the yard when I left for town hoping that Barney wouldn’t dig out again like last Wednesday.
I first stopped at the Chevron Station in Yucca to get my 3 propane tanks filled. I also fueled the truck and got a footlong at the Subway there to eat when I was home. I then went to the NAPA Auto Parts store to get the two spark plugs, drop off the two core batteries for a $60 refund, and ordered a Ford F150 manual. I still had time before my appointment at 2pm, so I went and did some shopping at Stater Bros. When I was done there I still had 45min to kill so I went to McDonalds, bought a coke, and sat down to eat half my Subway sandwich. I left and arrived at my appointment still 15min early and got into a conversation with this computer geek type guy... I don’t get to talk shop with anyone anymore so this was great. I even stayed to jaw with him after my shot.

Wednesday 26- 102 to 79
I did my stretches, core trainer, jogged a good mile, worked out on the weight bench, and punched at the heavybag for a spell.
I finished my edit of “Upon Ashen Roads” and sent it off to Rich.
I took the dogs for a nice long evening walk.

Thursday 27- 106 to 81
I did my stretches.
I went for my doctors appointment in Palm Springs.

Friday 28- 105 to 80
I did my stretches, core trainer, weight bench, and jogged a good mile.

Saturday 29- 104 to 75
I did my stretches and exercised with the 20lb dumbbells.
I cooked up some rice and brought cookies to potluck last Saturday. Around thirty hungry folks showed up to chow down on all the wonderful tasting food that was lovingly prepared while standing over hot ovens in the heat of the day. I am afraid I ate way too much and had to be dropped into a wheelbarrow, rolled out to my truck and then stuffed inside.
We potluckers gathered around jawed and yammered and decided to have a memorial potluck for Tim Atzei who passed away recently. He was a good friend to many, passionately involved in our little community, and came to our potlucks. So, on Saturday August 26 at 4PM we will celebrate Tim’s life and say our farewells to this kind soul. There was some talk about members of his church attending. The potluck is open to everyone, just rustle up some of your best grub to share and bring a big fat happy smile along with ya.

Sunday 30- 106 to 82 clouds
I did my stretches.
I worked around the house cleaning up. Tossed a few unneeded items in the dumpster.

Monday 31- 107 to 83 clouds
I did my stretches, core trainer, weight bench, punched the heavybag, and jogged a good mile.
I went to the post office to pick up the diagnostic tool for the Mini Cooper. I then went to Stater Bros. to do a bit of shopping.
Just too dang hot for the dogs in the evening to take them for a walk lately. I just don’t want to take them out when it’s dark and the snakes come out.

*************** Stuff I wrote this Month **************

Solemn are the streets at night, gather the fallen rain, a fog, a mist, a forgotten dream, a year has come and gone. Hold these memories, hold them dear, echoing what once enjoyed, for many have passed, but none returned beyond barriers of the void.
~RD

It’s either too big or too small, too late or too soon, too dark or too light, too hot or too cold. But there is a time when the Sun and Moon align that a little is too much and too much is just right.
~RD

Our past is what brings us to who we are today and what we do today is who we will be tomorrow...
~RD

Impermanence, such an interesting word. I believe once we accept our own impermanence we are set free from worry of death, free to roam the realms of our own being. To be totally awake and aware of the moment and the world which we live for the very first time.
