November 2016

Cassie_Barney_egg.jpg
Cassie is very dainty and eats around her egg yolk saving it for last, while Barney gobbles his right up at the beginning

Tuesday 01- 72 to 48 a cool, cloudy and windy day.
I did my stretches, lifted lite weights, yoga, took Cassie and Barney for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I finally fixed the clock and have it altogether!
I connected the Raspberry Pi to the ethernet and it reset the date and time to the right one. So it is definitely a WIFI problem on the new OS install.

Wednesday 02- 73 to 52 degrees it was a little windy but died down in the evening... a sunny day it was.
I did my stretches and took the dogs for a morning and evening walk.
Took my friend Chris shopping; she and her mom Mary have no transportation.

Thursday 03- 80 to 58
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells and took the doggies for a mile run.
I spent the day doing maintenance to the house; taking down the old battered fan, installing a porch light, getting the electric piano moved to the other side of the room where the old couch I threw away took up that space. I’ve been using the piano as a table and now it’s out where I can see and play it.
I took the doggies for their evening walk.

Friday 04- 81 to 59 clear and sunny.
I did my stretches, yoga, exercise with the 10lb dumbbells, punched the heavybag for a few rounds and then took my doggies for a mile jog.

I rode my electric bike over to Frank and Mary’s, but they weren’t home so I left them a note.
I took my doggies for an evening mile jog.
Everything is in a state of flux dynamically spinning in a dance orchestrated by the laws of physics...

Tuesday 08- 82 to 53
Today is not the end of the world. We will continue on despite whoever gets elected. We are a just and honorable people with different views. I do not know who will win today. I just know that we love and are loved and that is what really counts in life, all else is just a facade.

Wednesday 09- nice and sunny.

I finished the first edit (or at least I think it’s the first edit) of my book “Desolation” sixteen chapters and over 60 thousands words.

Thursday 10- sunny again!
I took my doggies for a mile jog.

Friday 11- we’ve been having the greatest weather here for a week or so.
I did my stretches, exercised with the 20lb dumbbells and took the doggies for a nice jog.
With all the craziness going on in the world at this moment I believe it's only right to do a Free Promotion my very dark Science Fiction eBook “Rainbow at the End of Tomorrow: Book 1” for one week.

Saturday 12- 81 to 59.
I did my stretches and took Cassie and Barney for a nice walk.
I went to the community center where we were having our annual general meeting. This is where we elect our board members.
Teresa Sitz and I tallied the votes. Ken Sitz is President. Kip is VP. Christian and Rohini both share the Secretary duties. Jay and Stephanie are new board members. Mary Helen is Treasurer (not really sure how that's going to workout because she is not on the board. I talked to David King and he said something of paying her a dollar or some such and having one of the board members fill the position and MH do the accounting)
Jay approach me afterwards asking about the column and if I would ask Annelies if she’d be interested in letting him help or take it over. He checked off a list of his qualifications and awards he has won in journalism... I felt like taking back my book of poems I had just given him lest he start reading it to find my horrible grammar and run on sentences. Anyways, I told him it was Annelies column, how I enticed her into taking it over from me some years ago, and it was her decision. I think Jay is an excellent choice if Annelies ever wanted to move on.
I took my doggies for a mile jog when I got back home.

Sunday 13- 81 to 56 degrees.
I did my stretches and took my doggies for a mile jog.
Called Family and Friends.

I went to start cutting all this scrap wood I have outside into smaller pieces to fix in my wood stove, unfortunately my generator quit on me after only a few boards were cut. I wasted time trying to get the dang thing working again. I finally got tired and overheated and went inside to do something else.
I took my dogs on an evening jog.

Tuesday 15- 83 to 53
I did my stretches and took my doggies for a one mile jog.
I left for town to the sounds of howling dogs. I usually put them in the dog pen, but this time I let them stay in the yard. When I got home Barney had almost dug a hole underneath the gate. I’ll have to do a little Barney proofing of the fence and gate. I got to town and got gas and a propane tank filled. Then to the Lab place to have some blood drawn... the Doc wanted to have the last results rechecked. Went to WalMart, Petco, and Home Depot for supplies.
The doggies and I ate a whole chicken I got at WalMart.

Wednesday 16- 72 to 46 overcast.
I did my stretches and took the doggies for a walk.
UPS Delivered my two new 120 watt flex solar panels to power the trailer.
I did the poop patrol with the new poop scooper I got at Petco... there was a lot of it.
I went out when it got dark to watch the Leonids Meteor Shower, but the wind was blowing hard out of the northwest which caused poor seeing. The brightness of the Moon and the now cold weather added to my difficulties, so I just went inside.
I finished October’s Journal and posted it.

Thursday 17- 67 to 41 degrees and mostly sunny with a bit of wind in the morning.
I did my stretches and took me doggies for a mile jog. It was cold and windy, but it felt good.

I went to Potluck with my rice and cookies (I can’t cook). Dyan Carroll and Dorothy Jacobsen showed us their culinary skills with a delicious spread of salmon patties, turkey stuffing, coleslaw, cheddar cheese broccoli and carrot cake. Mary and Chris stirred up some mighty tasty stew. Susie tended bar and handed out out non-alcoholic Shirley Temples and Roy Rogers. Dave brought some Barbecue beans that were to die for (if you ate too many of them). It was Mary Koval’s and Dave King’s Mom’s birthday and we all got to sing Happy Birthday twice. There were around twenty hungry folks who showed up.

I did my stretches, yoga and took my doggie for a mile jog.
I worked in the yard and did poop patrol.
I took the dogs for a mile run.

Monday 21- 67 to 45 windy, clouds and getting colder.
I asked Semi to come over to my house to see Barney. Semi used to help Sherry out a long while ago and him and Barney are old friends. I thought it’d help Barney to see a friendly face.
ED drove by and stopped to say hello. I haven’t seen him since his wife rolled the car up my hill in 1998. I helped Ed cut his and daughter hanging upside down inside the car and we all waited for 45 minutes for the fire department. She lost her purse and her little dog.
I did my stretches, exercised with the 20lb dumbbells and took the dogs for a mile jog.
I did some yard work and then started writing Christmas cards to send out.
Me and my doggies went for a mile evening jog.
I finally broke down and bought a washing machine: “Samsung 4.2 cu. ft. High-Efficiency Front Load Washer in White, ENERGY STAR” from Home Depot online and they’ll deliver it on Wednesday Nov 30th. It was $499 and I thought it was a good deal.

I took me doggies for an evening mile jog.

Wednesday 23- 70to 43 degrees and clear.

I ate the whole pie I had bought for the Thanksgiving dinner. What do you call it when you're stressed out about Thanksgiving and the pie you bought to take with you to the dinner is sitting before you on the kitchen counter and you look down to find you had just eaten it all?
I me doggies went for an evening mile jog.

Thursday 24- 63 to 47 degrees.
I did my stretches, weights bench, took Cassie and Barney for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I wasn’t feeling up to going for a Thanksgiving dinner and stayed at home instead; I started doing a little work on my Harley. Then I started working on the Honda Generator that I need to get up and running for my new washer coming next Wednesday.
I me doggies went for an evening mile jog.

Friday 25- 63 to 42.
I did my stretches and took the doggies for a mile jog.
I took apart my Honda Generator and cleaned it all out, sprayed compressed air into the carburetor to clear out the jets, put it all back together, pulled the starter rope and it fired up on the second pull. I let her run for a spell to make sure it wasn’t going to stall and sputter to a halt. I think I’ll cut up some wood for the stove tomorrow.
I me doggies went for an evening mile walk.

Saturday 26- 67 to 48 windy and feeling colder.
I did my stretches, yoga, and took my doggies for a mile jog.

An Email I got from my friend Kula:
Hey Bob, Was the meteor shower cancelled? I got up early & it was an amazing clear sky but I saw none!
xxoo
My reply:
Kula, I called and was put on hold for about an hour. Then I was passed through the different multitudes of talking heads until I got The Supreme One. The Supreme One was on a conference call with Galileo, Newton, Einstein and Nicolaus Copernicus about the meteor shower and I was asked to join in.
"My Friend Kula wants to know why the meteor shower was cancelled," I asked the others sitting around their computer monitors.
"Well to answer Kula's question," replied Galileo Galilei to me, "The Supreme One over there was so stunned by the election results and forgotten all about the meteor shower."
The Supreme One looked a little red with embarrassment and we all thought it best to move on discussing other subjects of a purely spatial nature.
Thanks for asking <3 span="">

October 2016

Saturday 01- very windy.
yard

Sunday 02- windy again today but not as bad.
Last week I was helping out a friend pick up a generator on the west side of Border ave. We drove up to the house and there was lots of barking from behind the fence. The lady who lives there must have had 10 to 15 Siberian Huskies and all were friendly and wanted our attention. I stuck my closed hand in between the gate rails and was licked by everyone of them.
I took Kelly to WalMart, Home Depot, and I got gas at Arco.

Monday 03- kinda out of it for the next 3 days. All I remember is working in the yard on these days. What hit me was I almost called Sherry about something, maybe to go to the store or something and completely forgetting she has passed.

I did my stretches, yoga, and took Cassie for a one mile jog.
Continued to work in the yard. Lots to clean up.
Saturday 15- 89 to 60...
It was a very nice service Sherry's family put on for her. Meeting all these friends, family and her coworkers who knew her and loved her. Many stood up and spoke about her, even I, telling story after wonderful story of Sherry's life. I felt after I left the service that I finally had some closure. I'll always think about her, but in a better state of mind without sorrow; she was a magnificent person...
I put up a video on my FB page that Sherry's Niece made. If you haven't, here it is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r32cIfI8Gqo
Warning: be prepared to cry when you watch the video.

Simi stopped by to pick up a book he lent me and we sat around yammering for a spell.
I have a long ways to go working in the yard all day.

Thursday 20- 85 to 62 degrees.
Post office to get my packages I ordered from FreedomPop, Staters to get supplies, then to the 99 cent store to pick up Kelly some Halloween treats. I left them on Kelly’s door because she, her dogs and cats and car were gone. Maybe she left for good.

Friday 21- 85 to 59.
I did my stretches, lifted lite weights, yoga, took Cassie for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
Sami came by with some 6 glass bricks I wanted. As we were sitting there jawing there was a truck towing a water trailer coming up the road. All of a sudden the trailer’s axle came off with both tires still connected and rolled down the hill. The driver tried to tow the wheeless trailer to the side of the road, but the truck’s back tires started digging in and had to stop. Sami and me walked on down to the bottom of the hill to help the driver move the axle over to her trailer that she unhooked. She said she knew someone with a flatbed that will come out to move it later.
My Brother Kevin was released from the hospital and is home now resting.
Martie, Sherry’s sister, called tell to say she was bringing Barney down tomorrow. I told her I’ll be down there with bells on to take him to his new home with me and Cassie.
OnTrac was supposed to deliver a package today and like usual they didn’t... said it was the wrong address. I called Amazon and complained again. The rep called OnTrac who said it was too far for their driver to go. I told the rep that last time they said I turned down the package. The rep called OnTrac back and had them schedule a delivery for Monday.

Saturday 22- 91 to 62 degrees.
I got up and did my stretches and got Cassie in the truck for the ride to Sherry’s house in Yucca Valley to pick up her boyfriend Barney to live with us. As I drove with Cassie towards town I noticed that the water trailer the lady left behind was still there. I am thinking now it may be a traffic hazard and someone could plow into it in the night.

Sunday 23-
I woke up wondering what Barney liked to eat and was thinking about calling Sherry to ask her. Dang, I never thought things like this would happen to me. I must be getting senile.
I did my stretches, lifted lite weights, yoga, took Cassie and Barney for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes. I was a little concerned that Barney wouldn’t keep up with us on our jog. If he couldn’t we’d all walk back to the house. Barney was out there sniffing the ground back and forth as we jogged; I guess that’s a hound dog’s nature. Seem to me he really liked getting out jogging and howling at nature.

Monday 24- rained most of the day with lots of lightning.
I did my stretches and took Cassie and Barney for a walk.
OnTrac finally dropped off my package just as it started to sprinkle a little
Started to rain and then a lightning storm came and knocked out the internet and cell phone service in our area. I had to look around for Barney who had decided to take cover under a desk inside the garage. I found him shivering and brought him inside to calm him down. Cassie was oblivious to the lightning and thunder. One struck so close I could swear it hit the house.

Tuesday 25- a little windy after the remainder of the storm finally passed through.
I did my stretches and took Cassie and Barney for a mile jog.
I called Mojavewifi to see when the internet would be up and I got a recording saying it might be down for folks and the are working with Edison and the power outage to get it all fixed. No problem, I’m getting a lot of work done on my books.

Wednesday 26- a nice sunny day.
I did my stretches, lifted lite weights, yoga, took Cassie and Barney for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
My neighbor Stevie stopped by with her kinda sort of granddaughter; she’ll have to wait until Stevie’s grandson gives her a ring, and we were yapping about this and that and I asked about her internet. She said it has been up with no problem after the storm. I called Mojavewifi and Tina said they have a repair guy come out by 2pm tomorrow.
Well it's been over five days since that lady left her water trailer almost in the middle of the road. I got a little mad when I seen a few cars almost hit it and one car went off the road to avoid the trailer. In the evening when I walked the dogs I opened the tank and drained out about 250 gallons the lady said she had in it. Later when it was empty I cut the tie downs and rolled the water container off the trailer. Then I used the two long 4x4s that tank sat on to use as levers to pivot and tipped the trailer off the road. It was kinda heavier than I thought and kept slipping towards the burm as I lifted it. I finally get it to its tipping point and let it go. It fell off the road and not on me.

Thursday 27- 79 to 60 and sunny.
I did my stretches and walked the dogs.
I went into Yucca to get a blood test at the lab down there. I stopped in and they said it would be a two hour wait. So I filled up my truck and a five gallon of gas and went to WalMart to get a 5 gallon propane bottle and some supplies. I even stopped off at Staters Bros to get some chicken for me and the dogs.
Jeff and Robert from down the street came by and I asked them to help me get the little bit of the water trailer still sticking out off the road. They were more than happy to help.
Joe from Mojavewifi arrived to put in a new receiver that most of blown out during the lightning storm last monday. I am back online again!!! Yeah for me! I did get a lot of editing done on my book “Desolation” while internet was out.
My dear old friends Frank and Mary came by to tell me they were moving up here for good... I think that’s great! Now I’ll have someone up here to bug.

Friday 28- 87 to 62 with some very nice clouds.
I did my stretches, lifted lite weights, yoga, took Cassie and Barney for a one mile jog, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
Saturday 29-
I made two trips giving Mary and Chris a ride to Potluck; Best yet... ate too much!
Sunday 30-
Got sick stuffing my face yesterday and then today with potluck leftovers.

Monday 31-
Felt better mile jog with the dogs
Upgraded my Raspberry Pi 3b OS from Raspbian to Pixel... now I am having trouble with the date and time shows February 2016 no matter what Linux commands I try to change it. Went to online forums and other folks are having problem... looks to be wireless. I will try Ethernet connection tomorrow to see if that corrects it.
I took apart a broken Timex battery operated alarm clock. One of the leads came undone, but it is late and will have to wait until tomorrow (have to save my batteries charge for tonite)

Scientist say they found a Dyson Sphere: Nah...
Dyson Sphere; is the great stuff of  science fiction... you just never know what you’ll find out there in the universe. Think about this... the Earth is growing much more silent now that we are using less open broadcasts like AM radio and broadcast television. Everything is becoming more digital and compressed as the Earth grows silent. Someday the noise of Earth will just blink out and will no longer be heard in the vastness of space. So what should we be looking for when we seek out advanced civilizations?

The Truman Show (my thoughts)
The perpetuated lies defined Truman's reality as he knew it to be. As it is in our own realities we are being manipulated and fed through mass media and false belief systems.
I think most of us hide behind the convenient illusion of time instead of living in the moment.
