January 2015

Thursday 01- overcast and cold.
I went to my trailer at the resort and swam for about twenty minutes and then went and sat in the Jacuzzi with my Brother for a long spell.


Friday 02- still overcast and cold.
Kevin and I took all the ornaments off the tree in my trailer and took the tree down to a park where it will be recycled.


Saturday 03- a little warmer but not much; at least the sun is out.
My Brother and I went to Barnes and Noble to cruise for any books of interest.


Sunday 04- Monday 05- Same reason I gave as before; not sure what I did those two day; probably sitting in the Jacuzzi and watched movies with my Brother like we been doing every night since I arrived in Tucson. We watched every decent movie that Netflix offers and started on the B movies.


Tuesday 06- overcast and cold.
My sister Paula and Mark are back from Florida and I am free to go back to my little trailer at the resort.


Wednesday 05- Friday 09- Again, not sure what I did those two day; probably sitting in the Jacuzzi and watched movies with my Brother like we been doing every night since I arrived in Tucson. We watched every decent movie that Netflix offers and started on the B movies.



Saturday 10- some rain on my drive back from Tucson.
I said goodbye to my brother Kevin and left the resort a bit after 10am and arrived at home some 7 hours later; usually I make it in 6 hours but now I have Cassie along and like to linger at rest stops along the way.
Started cleaning up the house; what a mess.


Sunday 11- rained all day long.
I did my stretches and worked cleaning the house up. I am not sure that I left it this way or gremlins sneak in while I am gone and spread dust and lint all over the floors.
I drove to my other mailbox on Lear Ave. to collect my mail there.


Monday 12- cloudy with sprinkles here and there.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
Sherry came by with my mail she so kindly collected while I was away in Tucson for over a month; it’s the longest I’ve been away from home since I’ve moved here in 97.
I tried to start the truck to move it out of the garage, I keep it there when I am away, but it wouldn’t start. I tried to jump it with the Cougar and that failed. So I’ll save that for another day.
I watched “Murder by the Numbers” (2002) on Netflix.


Tuesday 13- cold but sunny day.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I drove to Yucca to get some supplies because my cupboards were bare; got gas for the car, shopped at Staters and WalMart.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie. I am trying to get my routine back to normal or what I think is normal for me anyways.
I watched “The Gift” (2002) on Netflix.


Wednesday 14- nice sunny day and a bit warmer too.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie. I am trying to get my routine back to normal or what I think is normal for me anyways.


Thursday 15- sunny day 63/41 degrees.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for her walk.
FedEx delivered my new Moto E cell phone from Republic Wireless for $99 and a $10 a month plan “UNLIMITED TALK / TEXT over WiFi + Cell. UNLIMITED DATA over WiFi.”
I watched “Thorne; Scaredy Cat” on Netflix.


Friday 16- nice sunny day and a bit warmer too.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I listened to Lecture 2 of Geography 130; what is the description of a household and how it affects the environment.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I watched “Thorne; Sleepyhead” on Netflix.


Saturday 17- very nice and warm day.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I mostly talked to friends and family while I updated a couple of computers and did backups.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I watched “Lara Croft Tomb Raider” (2001) and “The Forgotten” (2004) “Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970)


Sunday 18- 67/47 degrees... a little overcast but warm.
I did my stretches and walked Cassie.
I watered most of the plants.
I ran the Harley and the scooter for around ten minutes.
I updated and posted my Journal for December 2014.
Worked on truck but I still couldn’t get it started.
I watched “Lara Croft Tomb Raider and the Cradle of Life” (2003)


Monday 19- 73/47 degrees.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: me and Cassie playing ball.
I listened to Lecture 3 of Geography 130; a discussion about lemmings and how or if their built in form of population control relates to human society and other animals.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “Stars and Star Formation 1” from Astro 10P Fall 2006 UC Berkeley: Introduction to Astronomy given by Professor Joshua Bloom.
I called and talked to my Brother for a spell; we do this everyday.
I watered the rest of the plants and did some cleanup inside the house.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and we went for a night run.
Finally the veil of Cirrostratus clouds abandoned the night skies tonight and I was able to see the comet Lovejoy with my Celestron Skymaster 15X70 binoculars; very heavy to hold still for long periods of time. I couldn't see it with the naked eye. It was a very pale grayish blue green fuzzball with a faint tail extending about out about 20-30 diameters of the comet.
I watched season 7 episode 12 “Castle: Private Eye Caramba”
I started reading where I left off months ago at chapter 3 “Physical Geology: Earth Revealed 6th edition”; Submarine canyons.

Tuesday 20- 68/49 degrees. Later in the day it became very overcast, damp and chilly.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: Perspective of telephones poles residing down the road and disappearing into the mountains (looks like it was done by a four year old).
While I listened to Lecture 4 of Geography 130; fire and its effects or environment, I sweep and mopped the kitchen and livingroom floors and I also did my laundry. I had hung my hats out to dry on the fence posts and Cassie didn’t know what to make of them and barked until I came out and put one on my head.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “Stars and Star Formation 2” from Astro 10P.
I got all caught up with my astronomy reading of “365 Starry Nights” by Chet Raymo. I have been reading this book daily every year for a very long time.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and we went for a night run.
I continued reading chapter 3 “Physical Geology: Passive and Active Continental Margins.
I read of chapter one of my old college history book “A Short History of Western Civilization”: The Minoan World.
I read a section of chapter 1 of “The Cell: a Molecular Approach”: about Electron Microscopy.
I read chapter 1.2 Scientific theory and the scientific method in “Astronomy Today; Fifth Edition” Earth’s Orbital Motion.
I practiced my guitar.

Wednesday 21- 64/42 degrees with clear skies.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk; it’s kinda my day off.
I drove to Yucca Valley with Cassie for her to visit Sherry’s fur folk while we went shopping and had lunch/dinner at Carrows Restaurant.
I got home just in time to take some pics of Venus and the Moon together before they set to the west.
I spent some time on FaceBook with my friends there and zipping around the web looking at this and that, whatever tickled my fancy.
Cassie is so tired after playing with Sherry’s three dogs that all she did when we got back was sleep.





Thursday 22- 62/42
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
While I listened to Lecture 5 of Geography 130 I sweep and mopped the bedroom and bathroom floors.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “The Death of Stars 2” (don’t know what happened to 1) from Astro 10P.
Got all ready for Joey’s birthday party; put Cassie in the inside kennel to keep her warm, grabbed my guitar and put in in the trunk and drove on over. I had such a fantastic time with my friends Joey and Piper and new friends Julie and Tracy. I handed out my book and autographed them for all there. There were 66 candles on the cake that lit up the whole house; very cool! I was having such a great time of it I didn’t noticed it was way after midnight and I had to leave.  
I got home and left the front door open so Cassie could make a beeline to go pee when I let her out of the kennel and she did just that.


Friday 23- 65/45 clear skies.
I woke up late around noon and by the time I got out of bed I was way behind my schedule; must have been that contact high I got at the birthday party. I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
Folks called me and spent what time I had yapping away with them.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and we went for a night run.


Saturday 24- 66/48 clear skies and a bit windy.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for a walk.
I did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: Winter.
I listened to Lecture 6 of Geography 130.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “The Fate of Stars 2”(no fate of stars 1) from Astro 10P.


Sunday 25- 72-52 clear with clouds moving in later in the day.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I messed around with my computers.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “Brown Dwarfs and Stellar Explosions 1” from Astro 10P.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and we went for a night run.
I read of chapter one of “A Short History of Western Civilization”: The Era of Small Nations 1200-800 B.C.E.: Phoenicians, Arameans, and the Hebrews.
I continued reading chapter 3 “Physical Geology: The Mid-oceanic Ridge and Fracture Zones.
I read a section of chapter 1 of “The Cell: a Molecular Approach”: Subcellular Fractionation.
I continued reading chapter 1 in “Astronomy Today; Fifth Edition”: Astronomical Timekeeping.
I practiced my guitar.

Monday 26- rained all day long.
I did my stretches and took Cassie for her morning and evening walks. I just messed around on FaceBook and catching up on some science videos on YouTube. I setup my home phone to transfer calls to my new cell phone instead.

Tuesday 27- 63/48 and overcast.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: Rain.
I listened to Lecture 7 of Geography 130: Thomas Malthus who wrote about the relationship between population and economics.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk with Cassie and listened to lecture “Brown Dwarfs and Stellar Explosions 1” from Astro 10P.

Wednesday 28- 62/42 and overcast again.
I did my stretches and walked Cassie in the morning and evening. (day off for me)
I did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: faces.

Thursday 29- 65/63 and still overcast.
I did my stretches, lifted weights, yoga, took Cassie for a mile run, core trainer, and punched the heavybag for three minutes.
I listened to Lecture 8 of Geography 130: Malthus, Adam Smith, and Karl Marx.
I did my studies; a lesson in “1100 words you need to know workbook”, and I drew something: House on a cliff.
I did my stretches, lifted 10lb dumbbells and went for my evening walk.
I finished reading chapter 3 “Physical Geology:seamounts, guyots, aseismic ridges, reefs, sea floor sediments, crust and ophiolites, age of seafloor and plate tectonics.
I read chapter 3 of “A Short History of Western Civilization”: The Great Empires: Assyria and Persia 800-300 B.C.E.
I did my stretches, lifted 20lb dumbbells, and Cassie and I went for a night run.
I continued reading chapter 1 in “Astronomy Today; Fifth Edition”: Motions of the Moon.
I practiced my guitar.
I read a section of chapter 1 of “The Cell: a Molecular Approach”: Growth of animal cells in culture, plant cells in culture, viruses, and review of chapter one.
I watched season 3 episode 13 of “Elementary: The one that got away”.
I started listening to new lectures (1) of “Legal Studies 103 Spring 2007 UC Berkeley (Legal Studies 103 Theories of Law and Society”: 1789 Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen: Modern Legal Liberty and Modern Legal Equality.

Friday 30- 58/49 with rain all day and fog in the morning.
I did my stretches, yoga, core trainer (all my other exercise equipment was wet) and took Cassie for a short walk.
I was going to edit one of my books but my Sony laptop kept freezing up so I did a refresh that took three days because of the overcast skies and not enough sunlight on my solar panels.
I began reading chapter 4 of “A Short History of Western Civilization”: The origins and development of the Greek city-state polity.  

Saturday 31- overcast with a bit of rain here and there.
I did my stretches and yoga and took Cassie for a walk.
I had to make calls to friends and family while I prepared a meal for our community potluck; my secret chili casserole surprise. there were about fifteen folks showing up and we had a great time yakking and yammering about the rain and other goings on. Car battery.....
