**************** Stuff I wrote this month ****************

In my dream I followed a steep trail making my way carefully, climbing over boulders, scaling ridges, and traversing gullies and streams. Ever so slowly higher through the pass I climbed as billowing clouds before me grew ominously darker with turbulent black foreboding. With much arduous effort I finally reached the summit of a great mountain I fought. I saw a man standing alone before me, immobile, right forefoot at the edge of precipice, looking casually out at the wide expanse of mountainous ranges. Wind blown hail pelted him as his long black cloak rippled like the sounds of a gale ripping through sails of a mighty clipper ship rounding Cape Horn. Weaken by my climb, I clung to rocks and crevices as I slowly crawled to the foot of the man. Fighting the bitter wind, frost formed encrusting my beard, teeth chattering, and I could no longer feel my fingers as I reached out to grab onto this omniscient man’s ankle. He finally took notice and bent ever so slightly down to peer questionably into my face. Stunned by what I saw I lost my grip and was swiftly swept away to be thrown back down the mountain trail far from the raging madness at the edge of forever.

Yes Ariji, blood does not make a family. Family is sword. Forged in the fires of infinity from the finest metals, laid bare upon the hard anvil of sacrifice, pounded and folded over many times to remove impurities by the hammer of truth, then sharpened by time, honed to a razor’s edge, protecting the ones we love.

Whispering to a future whose burdens I will never bear. Whispers that glide upon waves of time, forever left behind... left behind... will I always be left behind? Written words gather, collects like dust on windowpane. Be it me or another, it doesn’t matter... it’s really all the same. Whispering to a future whose burdens I will never bear... did I make myself clear? Will they even listen, will they even care?

So symmetrical the tiny snowflake, so surreal the structure; fragile but firm, to drift from great heights falling upon my palm, then in an instant it’s already gone.

I have to laugh at myself when I look back on all the dumb things I did and all the crazy people I’ve met in my life... and you know what? I wouldn’t change a dang thing!
